Knoxville, Tennessee Was Very Good For Us . . .

We enjoyed our three month stay in Knoxville. The people were wonderful, the sightseeing bountiful, and the terrain unforgettable. Southwestern landscapes versus the green rolling foliage filled eastern landscapes? Maybe, just maybe, if we were here earlier in life, this might have been the place!

When we were younger Janet and I were fortunate to be able to travel on multiple occasions to Europe and North Africa, and I had some experiences in Southeast Asia when I was younger. As we neared retirement, and with the world ever changing, whether it be for good or bad, we just decided that we really hadn’t seen all the beautiful places the U.S.A. had to offer. The motorhome experience was just a natural for us.

When we started considering the possibilities for our retirement back in 2006 the option of buying a motorhome and hitting the road came on our radar early. We talked about it continually. We both like to travel, and we have always traveled well together. These are paramount in considering this alternative lifestyle. We took our decision to the edge in 2006-2007 before stepping back. It wasn’t until 2011 that the bug bit us again, and even then we didn’t make the commitment until February 2013. The commitment, the hard commitment, was slapping six figures down on a depreciating asset. Our 300 square foot of living space motorhome!

As they say, “The rest is history”! It just works for us, and naturally we recommend it to anyone that wants to meet interesting people and visit some of the places in the U.S.A. that you have only heard about. Just do it!

As for Knoxville, Tennessee, we came here for a month and stayed for three months. As RVers we have that flexibility. Our path, the line on the map we will follow when we leave Knoxville on September 9th goes to Memphis, Tennessee to visit Graceland - for a possible Elvis sighting. Who knows! Then we will go on to the Branson, Missouri area for a week’s stay in the Escapee Clubs RV Park.

This stop will be followed by a visit to Kansas where I feel a need to show Janet the places and lands of my early upbringing. I like that ole saying whereby, “You can take the boy out of the country, but you can’t take the country out of the boy”. This old boy is going back for another look.

Before the season ending holidays are upon us we will also visit Colorado Springs, Taos, Santa Fe, and Albuquerque, New Mexico, the crater near Winslow along with the south rim of the Grand Canyon on the way back to the Las Vegas area.

This RVing is simple. You just move the motorhome to an area where you want to visit. Then use your tow car to get around the area, and when you have had enough, move to the next spot. Simple.

Here is where we have been since February, 2013.
